For the last decade, Joseph Sordi has led risk management activities as managing director of Strategic Security Corp. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Joseph Sordi enjoys visiting the many wineries throughout New York’s Long Island.

Wine aficionados living in the Long Island area need not travel far to visit wineries that offer the best tasting opportunities and stunning views to match. Here are a few of the region’s can’t-miss wineries:

Macari Vineyards
Based in Mattituck, the Macari Vineyards span an impressive 500 acres that were once used as potato fields. Today, the vineyards produce several varietals from grapes such as Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. When you are not partaking in wine tastings, you can visit some of Macari’s resident horses, rabbits, and Texas longhorns.

Wolffer Estate Vineyard
You can enjoy events and activities at the Wolffer Estate Vineyard throughout the entire year. Perhaps best known for its Merlot and Chardonnay reserves, the estate welcomes visitors for daily wine tastings and tours. Those who come in the summer and fall months can also enjoy glasses of wine along with complementary concerts while sitting amidst the outdoor scenery.

Bedell Cellars
Located just under 100 miles from New York City, Bedell Cellars has been sustainably producing wine for three decades. Guests may sample some of Long Island’s oldest varietals in the vineyard’s famous tasting room, which is situated in a refurbished barn.

An expert at managing and protecting clients’ assets, Joseph Sordi is the managing director of Strategic Security Corp. Outside of work, Joseph Sordi is active in coaching youth sports and is a fan of the New York Yankees.

The 2017 Major League Baseball schedule was released in September and, at least at first glance, it appears to be a favorable schedule for the Yankees. The pinstripes open the season on Sunday, April 2 in Tampa Bay where they’ll stay for a three-game series. From there, the Yankees will travel to Baltimore for three games before embarking on a nine-game home stand against Tampa Bay, St. Louis, and the Chicago White Sox.

Grueling road trips are nonexistent in the first half of the season, but New York will endure three stretches of eight or more consecutive away games in the second half. The worst stretch of road games comes in the final month of the season when the Yankees play three in Baltimore, three in Texas, and then three in Tampa Bay. As is often the case, divisional play highlights September, as the Yankees are slated to play 23 of their final 29 games against division rivals. The team’s final game of the season is Sunday, October 1 at Yankee Stadium against the Toronto Blue Jays.

An experienced law enforcement and security professional, Joseph Sordi serves as managing director of the risk management firm Strategic Security Corp. in New York City. In addition to his professional pursuits, Joseph Sordi supports several nonprofit groups including Wounded Warrior Project (WWP).

Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) recently celebrated a significant milestone, surpassing more than $250 million in lifetime benefits secured for wounded veterans since the launch of its Benefits Service Program–an organizational record. The program was launched as a means of helping these veterans secure the financial and medical assistance they need to help them with their long-term recovery by providing assistance in dealing with the Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Defense, and other veterans service organizations.

One of the main drivers in helping these veterans is WWP’s Benefits Claim Day, where a concerted effort to encourage veterans to sit down in face-to-face interviews with WWP personnel who can help them with their individual cases. In total, the WWP received higher than a 90 percent approval rating for its work helping veterans claim their benefits.

Joseph Sordi brings 20 years of experience in law enforcement to his role as the managing director of Strategic Security Corp (SSC). In this position, Joseph Sordi is responsible for the oversight of a risk management firm that offers many different kinds of services to clients across a variety of industries.

SSC provides professionals to help businesses handle the following situations.

1. Retail security – Storefronts that wish to take an extra step toward protecting customers and merchandise can hire SSC to monitor and enforce security protocol during or after business hours. Loss prevention, customer and employee escort, and after-hours alarm callouts are just a few of the tasks that SSC professionals undertake for stores of all sizes, from boutiques to nationwide chains.

2. Executive protection – Individuals of high net worth often face personal safety risks that others never need to consider. SSC offers inconspicuous safety services for clients of this nature in both a personal and professional capacity. Company professionals are able to protect clients in public as well as private with little impact on the normalcy of daily life.

3. Labor or civil unrest – Businesses or events that attract the ire of large, ideological groups can pose a significant security risk. In these instances, SSC is able to gather intelligence on behalf of clients in order to prevent violence, as well as provide unarmed security for enhanced protection.
