For the last decade, Joseph Sordi has led risk management activities as managing director of Strategic Security Corp. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Joseph Sordi enjoys visiting the many wineries throughout New York’s Long Island.

Wine aficionados living in the Long Island area need not travel far to visit wineries that offer the best tasting opportunities and stunning views to match. Here are a few of the region’s can’t-miss wineries:

Macari Vineyards
Based in Mattituck, the Macari Vineyards span an impressive 500 acres that were once used as potato fields. Today, the vineyards produce several varietals from grapes such as Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. When you are not partaking in wine tastings, you can visit some of Macari’s resident horses, rabbits, and Texas longhorns.

Wolffer Estate Vineyard
You can enjoy events and activities at the Wolffer Estate Vineyard throughout the entire year. Perhaps best known for its Merlot and Chardonnay reserves, the estate welcomes visitors for daily wine tastings and tours. Those who come in the summer and fall months can also enjoy glasses of wine along with complementary concerts while sitting amidst the outdoor scenery.

Bedell Cellars
Located just under 100 miles from New York City, Bedell Cellars has been sustainably producing wine for three decades. Guests may sample some of Long Island’s oldest varietals in the vineyard’s famous tasting room, which is situated in a refurbished barn.
