Coming off a 10-6 season that saw them miss the playoffs on a tiebreaker, the New York Jets hope for even better results in the 2016-2017 season. Below are three of the most interesting games that second-year head coach Todd Bowles and his team will participate in this year.
Buffalo Bills – Sept. 15
The Jets find themselves at Buffalo in Week 2 for an early divisional game as well as a date with their former head coach, Rex Ryan. Buffalo started hot last season but fizzled down the stretch. The Jets defense ranked second overall against the run last year, and they look to continue that trend by shutting down LeSean McCoy, who is the lynchpin of the Bills offense.
Seattle Seahawks – Oct. 2
Week 4 brings the first out-of-conference game for the Jets. A Seattle team looking to re-assert its dominance in the NFC will come to MetLife Stadium, hoping to beat the Jets at their own game. With the retirement of Marshawn Lynch and a batch of relative unproven at running back, the Jets have a golden opportunity to show down the team’s rushing attack.
New England Patriots – Nov. 27
This is the game that’s circled on every Jets fan’s calendar each year. The Patriots come to town in Week 12 for the first of two dates with the Jets – this one in prime time. Todd Bowles and his crew have an extra week to prepare for Tom Brady and the New England offense, and they will look to build momentum from last season’s home victory against their hated rival. A win would make it two in a row over Coach Belichick and company.
